the wizard to "Deploy OVF Template", I click Finish on the final wizard screen. and progress dialog pops up. It counts up to 100% complete while showing "Deploying disk 1 of 1..." and then always fails with the following error. displayed on a popup window: "Failed to deploy OVF package: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error"

The first issue you may run into after copying the OVF Tool files to your ESXi Host is when you try to run a test on the program. The issue occurs based on the version of the OVF Tool that you are using and the version of your ESXi server.
VSphere fails to deploy OVF package OK so I created an OVF package (using workstation version 10) for a virtual machine I've built (just a basic win8 machine I made to test all this out and learn with) and I'm trying to import it into vsphere 5.5.
I went to re-deploy some vDP appliances today and noticed a newer version was made available a few months ago (vSphere Data Protection 6.1.5). After downloading the vSphereDataProtection-6.1.5.ova file, I went to deploy it to my vSphere cluster and it failed due to an invalid certificate and a message reading "The OVF package is signed with an invalid certificate".

To fix this OVF Deployment error, open the OVF file using a text editor. I use Notepad ++ which is one of my favourite software. Right click on the OVF file and open with the text editor. We were able to identify the below block of codes with the “ IDE Controller ”
Once converted I "export to OVF" using Vmware Workstation 11 this is also successful. I am unable to deploy OVF Template due to error: "failed to deploy ovf package invalid configuration for device '7' Also tried using WebClient but fails with 'Line 47 unsupported virtual hardware device vmware.sata.ahci.'
[EDIT: 26/04/2019]: Google Chrome seems to work well now with large files from a while on. Recently I tested under Google Chrome Version 73..3683.103 (Official Build) (64-bit) and vSphere 6.7 U2 to download an OVF file over 10GB, and it went well. If you still have some issues, check the options below or the last section for a workaround.
